The MI Colloquium Series & the Beta Phi Mu Honor Society present a lecture by Dr. Wayne Wiegand on September 18th 6:30-8:30 PM @ Alexander Library. Often referred to as the “Dean of American Library Historians,” Dr. Weigand is the F. William Summers Professor of Library and Information Studies Emeritus at Florida State University. In his upcoming book, Part of Our Lives, Wayne A. Wiegand delves into the heart of why Americans love their libraries. The book traces the history of the public library, featuring records and testimonies from as early as 1850. Rather than analyzing the words of library founders and managers, Wiegand listens to the voices of everyday patrons who cherished libraries.

Agenda:

6:30-7:00 Reception (sponsored by RU Libraries)

7:00–8:30 Lecture by Dr. Wiegand
